You were never a boy scout, a poem

you keep vigil in this same spot again and wait

the night is the hardest part
when freedom is a prison
locking you out from within
a blanket for your weary shiver
a dryness for damp clothes
you keep vigil in this same spot again and wait
for the season of light
from the season of darkness
